OUR CORE BELIEFS
Our Core Beliefs are the foundation of what we do. At Waypoint Church, we uphold certain values and beliefs.

Even though we are non-denominational, our history and roots are Baptist. This means that above all, our faith and practice are governed by God's Word. In all things we seek to follow the guidance of Scripture, the leading of the Holy Spirit, and the counsel of fellow Believers.

Each of these areas of belief and our governing structure are explored deeper in our NEXT process.

GOD - FATHER, SON, & HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Spirit—without division of nature, essence or being, forever co-equal in glory and purpose. He is holy, sovereign, and actively accomplishing His redemptive work in the world.

GOD THE FATHER - CREATOR, SUSTAINER, & AUTHOR OF ALL
We believe God the Father is the creator and sustainer of the universe and everything in it. God the Father is perfect and good, He set the standard for morality and through His infinite power He provides for and reigns over all of creation.

GOD THE SON - THE CENTER OF THE STORY & LORD OVER ALL
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He lived sinlessly, died sacrificially, rose bodily, ascended victoriously, and will return triumphantly. His finished work is the foundation of salvation and the hope we proclaim.
As a church, we follow Jesus as Lord—not just in belief, but in lifestyle, mission, and obedience.

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT - THE POWER & PROOF OF A WATCHMAN
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, giving new life and empowering us for
maturity, mission, and faithful witness. The Spirit convicts, comforts, guides, transforms, and equips the church with gifts for ministry. Walking in the Spirit is essential to seeing clearly, standing faithfully, and responding
obediently.

SALVATION - BY GRACE ALONE, THROUGH FAITH ALONE,
IN CHRIST ALONE
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace—not earned, deserved, or achieved by human effort. Through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, made new, adopted into God’s family, and sealed by the Spirit. Salvation launches a life of transformation and obedience as disciples who grow in Christlikeness.

SCRIPTURE - AUTHORITY & FOUNDATION
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It reveals God’s nature, defines truth, anchors our convictions, and directs our lives. Scripture shapes our preaching, our vision, our discipleship, and our mission as Watchmen.
References: 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; Psalms 19:7-11; 2 Peter 1:20-21
HUMANITY - MADE IN GOD'S IMAGE, BROKEN BY SIN
We believe every person is created in God’s image with dignity, identity, and purpose. We also believe all humanity is marked by sin—spiritually dead and unable to save itself. Human brokenness reveals humanity’s need for the Savior and the transforming power of grace.
References: Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3
THE CHURCH - CHRIST'S BODY & GOD'S MISSION
We believe the Church is the community of believers worldwide, expressed locally in
congregations like Waypoint. We exist to worship God, disciple believers, encourage one another, and advance the Gospel. Every believer is a Watchman—placed by God, responsible to the people around them, and called to stand faithfully where God has positioned them.
NEXT (Belong - Connect - Grow - Serve - Reach - Beyond) reflects this biblical identity.

DICIPLESHIP - GROWING IN CHRIST IS NOT OPTIONAL
We believe discipleship is the normal, expected life of every believer. Growth is a necessity–not a luxury–and happens through community, Scripture, spiritual disciplines, obedience to the Spirit and meaningful service. We help believers take next steps toward maturity, purpose, and Kingdom impact.

BAPTISM & THE LORD'S SUPPER - SIGNS OF GRACE
We believe baptism is the outward expression of inward faith and identification with Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. We practice believers’ baptism by immersion. We believe the Lord’s Supper is a regular reminder of Christ’s sacrifice and our shared unity in Him.

THE KINGDOM 0F G0D - NOW & NOT YET
We believe the Kingdom of God is both present and coming—advancing through the Gospel awaiting its final fulfillment when Christ Returns. We live with urgency, clarity, and hope as Watchmen who join God’s Kingdom work in our city and world.
References: Mark 1:14-15; Luke 17:20-36; Matthew 24:14; Revelation 11:15
THE RETURN OF CHRIST & FINAL RESTORATION
We believe Jesus will return, personally, visibly, and victoriously to judge the living and the dead, renew creation, and establish His eternal Kingdom. This hope shapes how we live—faithful, watchful, and ready.
References: Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Peter 3:10-13; Revelation 21:1-5
MARRIAGE, FAMILY & HUMAN SEXUALITY
We believe God designed marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman. We believe God designed sexual expression to be held sacred within a covenant marriage relationship. We affirm the value, dignity, and worth of every person as made in God’s image. We encourage families to be centers of discipleship, purpose and witness.
